Car Taxi Bus Bus Plane Plane Caaaaaar Plane Car Bed

Phew.... that was a whirlwind of a trip! I just got back from helping my brother move to Boston! You may correctly infer from the long title of this post that it was transportation intensive. Nevermind the fact that I found out at 9:40 that my flight was delayed 2 hours and the only possible way to get to MN before 8 pm was to take a flight at 10:50. I somehow finished some critical work, made it to the airport and through security only to realize that I was in the wrong terminal. Enter the bus. Ten minutes later I make it on (standby) to an earlier flight allowing me to get to MN in time to get in the car and start driving east.

We had a great time driving and all. There's nothing like a little time between brothers to solve life's problems and catch up. Midway through the trip the itinerary changed (due to weather), and we were able to visit my new in-laws! (I'm blessed with really great in-laws, I'll have you know.) We put together a special message for Abby. See below:

We had a lot of fun with the wide angle lens, which you can see below. Just click through the album. You'll also see some fun pics from the Wisconsin Dells. This is a really funny town, or should I say amusement park? The whole town is full of little amusement parks, carnivals, or other strangely themed roads. I think I saw the coleseum, an updside down parthenon, a trojan horse, several water parks, several more pirate miniature golf parks (avast.... thar be me ball walkin the plank!), and don't forget the go cart track. Seriously. You could have lots of fun here. There were even several all inclusive hotels. I don't think Motel-8 will ever quite qualify as an all-inclusive resort, so we'll just leave it at that.

The original plan was to pass through Niagara Falls. We didn't quite make it to the Canadian side, due to an expired passport, and my desire to not leave my brother stranded in a foreign country. I'm not sure if he speaks the language. I'm sure he could have made it back though, but he might have had to travel by barrel, and that gets sketchy at best.

We finally made it to Boston, rushed through unloading the car, and then back to the airport. Phew. I made it. Talk about a great trip! Thanks for letting me tag along J. We should do it again sometime when you're not moving or driving across the states. How about we just catch up in NY or something?

Screen on the Green

Well, the title doesn't quite describe the week, but we had a lot of fun. My good friend Didier came to Washington DC and was able to stay with us for a few days. We had a great time! There aren't any pictures, but we did have some friends over for a little BBQ at the new place. Sorry, I could only be grill master or photographer. You just can't be everything at once it turns out! Aside from taking in the museums, partying, and just enjoying catching up, we also introduced Didier to one of my favorite Restaurants, Ben's Chili Bowl. We took it to go though, and headed down to Screen on the green. I think they were showing "Goodbye Girl" which I'd never really heard of. Before the showing though, the skies opened up and let loose. Torential downpour, and thankfully we were saved by a big blue tarp! I think everyone else was jealous or just plain wet.

The film was pretty good except for the part when a voice came over the loudspeaker to announce that somehow this copy of the film had several scenes out of order, and sorry for the inconvenience. Then we continued to watch the 20 minutes that had been left out of the film before the scene we'd just watched. That explained a lot more. I thought it was kind of jumpy! Anyway, lots of fun. Here's a few pics from the night and our monumental visits.

4th of July

We went camping. Sort of. Truth is, it was supposed to rain, so we didn't make it too far. But that's the most comfortable night camping I've ever had! Memory foam sure is great!

Oh, and we saw the fireworks in DC and stuff. Here's a few pics from the weekend.
