Kauai at last

This post is  a little late, but needed to be made. Abby and I took a week off around Labor Day and enjoyed a week on Kuaui with her parent at their timeshare. It was my first time to Hawaii, and it was amazing! Absolutely worth the wait.  One of the things I love about Abby is that we share the same attitude toward travel and vacation. We had a blast traveling all over the island, sampling different places to eat, and making time to enjoy each rainbow, sunrise, and sunset.  I'm not going to go over every minute of the trip, but here are the highlights (in no particular order):

Napali Coast
  • Kayaking to secret falls and fern grotto
  • The Luau, with all the food and the dancing
  • Hiking the Kalalau trail to Hanakapi'ai Waterfall
  • Getting our advanced diver certification
  • Seeing turtles, dragon eels, moray eels, turtles, eagle rays, and sharks. Did I mention turtles?
  • Art night in Hanepei
  • Seeing the Napali coast from a catamaran.
  • Not getting seasick until after the awesome rainbow on the Napali coast
  • Seeing spinner dolphins swimming by our boat
  • Hanging out on the beach(es)
  • Going to our first black sand beach
  • Taking a ridiculous amount of pictures
  • Polihali beach, despite the rental car's companies efforts to thwart
  • Snorkeling at Ke'e beach
  • Queen's bath
  • Glass beach (which should be renamed rust beach)
And here are some of the highlights from eating:
  • Puka dogs
  • Kilauea bakery
  • Kountry Kitchen
  • Ono's Shaved ice
  • Kalaheo Cafe
  • Bubba Burgers
  • Tortilla Republic
  • Duke's
  • Hamura Saimin
And now for some pictures!

The waves seem mellow
and seem reasonably fun

then again...
these waves pack a punch
